Pricey, but works great as a garden shade also

I have a full sun garden that got walloped by the June heat last year and fried many of my plants. I have a 5X5 raised bed and this shade tarp was erected over the top to partially shade my plants this year. The tarp is mesh-y and somewhat breathable so air and water will still get through. I had to get 4 fence posts to mount them on, but the package came with the zip ties (a LOT of them) so it was a pretty easy project. There are metal reinforced grommets all around the perimeter so you can make adjustments easily to the placement. This is listed now as a dog shade tarp, but honestly, it’s just a tarp, a little overpriced IMHO, but it serves the need for shade.

Thicker quality chicken coop shade cloth

5 stars all the way for this extra durable pre-sized shade cloth that is PERFECT for chicken coops! The 90% shade cover keeps my hens shaded and cool but allows breezes to pass through. Comes with heavy duty zip ties and could not be easier to put on the little run portion of the coop. Sturdy enough to last for all spring and summer use and will probably be able to be used a second year. Impressed that this is thicker than the other shade cloths I’ve used in the past. It’s better made.

Great as privacy screen

I got the 4'x10' size to erect a privacy cover for my backyard since I have a chain link fence. The grommets are well spaced for a tight fit, and they didn't bend or give me any trouble during installation. The included zip ties made it a quick and easy setup, even for one person. The quality of the fabric feels solid, and I’m happy with how it holds up to outdoor use. It’s not see-through at all, and it’s strong enough to stand up to some wear and tear. I also appreciate the fact that it’s waterproof, though I just wanted to reduce visibility.Installation was a breeze, and the grommets make it easy to attach to any frame. Overall, for the price, it’s a solid investment for creating a shaded space for pets, plants, or just making a patio more comfortable. One issue I had, however, was that I found the same product available from other sellers for much cheaper. The price difference felt like a big markup for something that’s essentially the same as what’s available from other sellers for a fraction of the cost. A possibility is that this product lasts longer in the sun, which can only be tested with time.

Good quality shade cover

I'm very impressed and amazed by the Shademart 8 ft. x 16 ft. Privacy Mesh Fabric Dog Kennel Cover because it provides an outstanding level of sun protection and privacy for outdoor pet enclosures. Engineered with a substantial 190 GSM permeable HDPE woven fabric, this heavy-duty mesh tarp is packed with antioxidants and UV stabilizers to resist sun degradation, cracking, and tearing over time.eBayWhat stands out is its high-performance 90% UV block rating, which dramatically lowers ambient temperatures inside a pen while its porous layout allows continuous fresh air and breeze to circulate freely. To ensure a quick and stable installation on crates, playpens, or runs, the perimeter is reinforced with heavy-duty bonding and equipped with strategically spaced grommets—placed every foot along the shorter edges and every two feet along the longer sides—allowing you to easily secure it with the included zip ties

Effective shade cover for dog kennels and runs

This 4' x 10' black shade cloth blocks about 90% of the sun and UV rays, making a noticeable difference in keeping the kennel cooler and more comfortable for dogs. The mesh material allows good airflow while still providing solid shade. It works well as a visual barrier too, which helps reduce barking and anxiety by limiting outside distractions. The grommets every couple of feet make it easy to secure with the included zip ties on fences, pens, or frames. Lightweight, durable, and a simple way to improve outdoor dog areas during hot weather. Good quality and useful size.

Heavy Duty

I bought this shade cloth to install over a chain-link fence so that the weeds on the other side won't grow through the links onto mine. The length of the fence is perfect for this cloth at 12', the height is only 4', but I can fold it over the top and secure it so that it's doubled where the weeds start to branch out about halfway up the fence. The cloth is thick and heavy, and I was pleased with the material because I feel it's sturdy enough to stand up to the invasive plants, and I don't want to have to replace it every season, and I think this material will last for quite a while. The material comes with reinforced edges where the grommets are and even includes zip ties to secure it. For my purposes, the 90% shade factor means that the weave is dense enough to do the trick.

It does what's intended to do. Good value!

I picked this up to add shade to an outdoor area and it honestly does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The material feels thicker and sturdier than I expected for the price, and once installed it noticeably cuts down on harsh sun and heat. It creates a much cooler, more comfortable space underneath, which is great for pets, plants, or just making a patio more usable during the day.Installation was straightforward. The grommets are well placed and make it easy to secure to fencing or a frame with zip ties or rope. It looks like the listing photos and the size was accurate, which I always appreciate. Just keep in mind it’s a shade cloth, not a waterproof tarp, so it blocks sun but won’t stop rain. For the cost, it feels like a solid value and a practical way to add shade without investing in a full permanent structure.

Many Uses

These panels are marketed as shade cloth, but honestly, that’s only half the story—at least at my house.Yes, they provide shade. But their real superpower? Visual obstruction. I attached these to sections of my chain-link fence, and the results were immediate. One panel blocks the sightline to a neighbor my dogs love to bark at whenever he’s outside working in his yard. Problem solved—out of sight, out of mind. The second panel went on the back corner of the yard, where another neighbor keeps chickens. If you’ve never owned dogs, imagine chickens as the world’s most irresistible interactive dog toy… that your dogs are not allowed to engage with. Blocking that view dramatically reduced the barking and helped keep everyone happy. The material is sturdy, the grommets are strong, and zip-tying these to the fence was fast and painless. They stay put and do exactly what they’re supposed to do.If you’re only thinking about shade, you’re missing the bigger picture. These panels are also excellent for privacy, noise reduction, and maintaining neighborhood peace. Five stars, easily.

Works well as a privacy screen also.

My dogs have a fenced and covered potty yard that they use when I'm not able to walk them. While inside their yard (and being unleashed) they get easily distracted by what going on the other side of the fence.By cutting this shade cloth in half (the long ways) I made two sections that cover the chain link fencing 4 feet by 32 feet. This shade cloth works great as a privacy screen. The grommets are strong, and it has held up well during windy days.

Perfect for Sunny Weather

This is a great shade cloth and I’m glad it came wrapped up already so I can store it until needed for the summer. It comes with the grommets for easy hanging up and the overall shade cloth feels so nice. This will fit perfect on my back porch to help keep the sunshine out especially when it gets so hot here in the summer time. It’s not see through at all that I noticed and is strongly stitched. Pretty nicely sized and overall is going to be great for the sunny weather.

A summer lifesaver for Florida gardens and homestead life

If you live in Florida and grow anything at all, you know the summer sun is relentless. This shade cloth will become one of those homestead essentials I wish I had bought sooner. I am using this one specifically for my more sensitive plants, and it is perfect for our high summer heat. The 90 percent shade makes a huge difference. It softens that harsh midday sun while still letting air move freely, which is so important here where heat and humidity go hand in hand. I also love that it is not waterproof. Rain can still reach the plants during our afternoon storms, and nothing gets trapped or overheated underneath.Installation is simple and sturdy. The grommets are well spaced, the material feels durable, and the included zip ties make it easy to secure exactly where I need it. Once it is up, everything underneath immediately feels cooler and calmer. My plants will look happier, which is really all a homesteader wants to see.Shade Cloths are super versatile. We use them for chicken coops and runs (also makes a great Hawk deterrent), dog runs, AC units, and shaded garden work areas. The fact that it is made in the USA is the icing on the cake. For anyone homesteading in a hot climate, especially Florida, this shade cloth is a true workhorse. It is practical, dependable, and exactly what my garden needed to survive and thrive through summer.

Solid Shade Coverage for Kennels & Coops — Frustratingly Hard to Reorder

This shade cloth does exactly what it promises: it cuts heat, blocks harsh sun, and creates a noticeably cooler, calmer space for dogs, chickens, or anything else you’re trying to protect from full sun exposure. The 90% shade rating feels accurate in real-world use. It significantly reduces glare and heat without completely killing airflow, which is the sweet spot for kennels and coops. The material itself feels sturdy — not flimsy mesh — and the reinforced grommets are spaced well and hold up under tension. The included zip ties make setup quick and painless, especially if you’re attaching it to fencing or a kennel frame.Another underrated benefit: it works as a visual barrier. If you’ve got dogs that get overstimulated by movement outside their run, this helps dial that down without fully enclosing the space.Where it loses a star is availability. Once you’ve installed this and realize you want another panel (or a replacement), you may be out of luck. It’s frequently unavailable, which is annoying if you’re trying to standardize coverage across a larger setup.Pros:Noticeable heat and sun reductionBreathable — doesn’t trap hot airStrong grommets and durable meshEasy, tool-free installationHelps reduce visual overstimulationCons:Not waterproof (shade, not rain protection)Frequently unavailable / hard to reorderBottom line:If you can grab it while it’s in stock, this is a reliable, well-made shade solution for kennels, coops, and outdoor runs. Just be aware that availability is unpredictable — buy all the panels you think you’ll need upfront.

High quality shade cloth designed with grommets.

What a really helpful product. I have a greenhouse that at the height of summer, sizzles the plants. This shade cloth, designed as a tarp complete with grommet holes for tie downs, is a great solution to provide relief to the plants. The cloth is made of heavy duty black plastic weave that should prove to be durable. Plastic is less likely to promote mold growth and won’t rot. At 90% blockage of light, I might end up using it for shade for my dog. This is generously sized - 8x16’ is the equivalent of two sheets of plywood end to end. The weave allows for rain to pass through easily and prevents the collection of rain/puddles. This is a quality item that is very reasonably priced and a good value. I recommend it.

Perfect for Hot Summer Sun

This is a wonderful shade cloth. It's lightweight, 90% sun blocking, and includes grommets and zip ties for hanging options. It also has grommets on all four sides, making it easy to tie down securely. Be aware when using it for dogs and chickens that 90% sun block blocks UV and provides shade, but it doesn't make it a lot cooler. It's the perfect size for my outdoor catio area. It's 6x8, so I installed hooks that have a clip in them so it doesn't blow off in the wind. It makes it easy to change to a rain curtain or just add one over it. The weight is a big factor because I'm small and older. I can handle it myself. I could also easily take it camping. There are a ton of uses for this shadecloth.

Solid Shade for Outdoors — Keeps Things Much Cooler

I bought this shade cloth to give my dog a cooler spot outside, and it really does make a difference. The 90% shade rating blocks a ton of heat, and the material feels durable without being too heavy to handle. The upgraded grommets make it easy to secure, and once it’s up, it stays put even with some wind. The only small downside is that the edges were a little stiff at first, but they relaxed after a day or two in the sun. Overall, it creates great shade, feels well‑made, and does exactly what I needed.Great option if you want something strong and effective for pets, patios, or garden areas.

It works better than expected

Besides me accidentally ordering the wrong size, this does work really well. I needed something to help block my dog view from my neighbors dogs. It becomes a barking war if either of the see each other. So far after figuring out a way to make it half the height it’s working well. It’s breathable, so the wind can still get through it and I don’t have to worry about it flying away. The material quality. I was surprised on, it help up really good when i did a burn cut to make it work. So far it’s holding up really well to weather and my dog jumping on it.

large sturdy tarp with zip ties

This tarp is big enough for numerous uses. It has the sewn in grommets to secure with the included zip ties. The quality is good, better than other I have used. It has a nice weight to it so it should hold up in the wind too. It comes folded up nicely if you're taking it on the road. I have one in my bugout bag.

Very nice shade cloth

I am really happy with this shade cloth. It's well made from good quality materials. The grommets are well place and has a quantity of them. I appreciate that it comes with zip ties. I ordered this shade cloth for my back porch. It's amazing. This cloth blocks 90% of sun and harmful UV rays so I know it ill keep my porch cooler during the hot summer. And the privacy it will give me. I highly recommend this product.

Perfect Shade Solution for Gardens and Plants

This shade cloth should be a great addition to our garden, especially during peak summer heat. It does appear that it blocks about 90% of the sun and harmful UV rays, which should help protect some of garden plants from scorching while still allowing plenty of airflow and light through. Because it’s breathable and not waterproof, rain passes through easily, keeping soil moisture levels natural. The material feels very durable and well-made. The UV-resistant HDPE mesh should reduce heat buildup and hold up well to sun, wind, and outdoor exposure without too much fading.Installation should be quick and hassle-free. There are reinforced grommets every two feet and included zip ties. Both of the aforementioned should make it easy to secure to fencing.Overall, this is an excellent, high-quality shade cloth for gardeners looking to protect plants, reduce heat stress, and extend the growing season. It was made in the USA. Highly recommended.

Dogs…pay no attention to the other dogs behind the curtain

This is the holy grail for backyard dogs who lose their minds at every passing squirrel, jogger, or dog walker. We put this on the fence and it immediately helped because the whole issue was line of sight. If they can’t see people walking their dogs, they don’t do the full security-alarm routine. It’s not magic, it’s just blocking the visual trigger, and it works. It also shades the yard area nicely. It’s breathable, so it doesn’t turn into a hot plastic sail, and it lets air move through. And it’s easy to install. Grommets are spaced out well, and the zip ties make it a quick job.A couple things to know:• It’s not waterproof. Rain goes right through (which I actually like because it doesn’t hold water and sag).• Measure your fence run first. This one size worked for my setup, but you’ll want to be sure you’re covering the exact “bark zone.”If you have a fence-barker and you’re tired of apologizing to your neighbors, this is a really simple fix that makes a big difference.
